Junior

Well I decided that this topic deserved it's own post!!
So Joe and I had been trying to get get pregnant for over a year and things just weren't going our way!  We spent thousands of dollars at the doctor's office and she eventually told us that she had done all she could do and it was time to visit with a fertility specialist.  I felt very strongly that we were going to have kids and not to give up hope!  We knew that fertility treatments were simply out of the question at the time because they are just way too expensive so we were just going to wait.

Several months prior I had emailed an Herbalist about what was going on and she said that there were several things I could try when I was ready.  But it took me about 3 months before I called.  She sent me all kinds of different vitamins and oils to use.  I also started reading the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and started testing my basal temperature every morning at 6am (once I did get pregnant Joe said he was so happy to stop hearing that beep beep beep every morning...haha).  I decided what could the harm be in going the "herbal route".  I mean if anything I felt great and had lots of energy from all the vitamins pumping through my system haha!!!  I started all of this in January and on the morning of March 21 I decided to take a pregnancy test because I felt like something was different (I had taken a couple of test the week before and Joe wanted me to wait another whole week to test again).  But decided that I just couldn't wait and I took the test and after many many MANY negative results this is what I found:

Keep in mind that I had taken this test at about 6 in the morning.  I hurried and finished my business and rushed into the bedroom where Joe was fast asleep and I whispered "babe are you awake" and of course he says no! So I whispered "babe I'm pregnant" haha and he asked me if I'm serious and so I flipped on the light and showed him the test.  I was sitting beaming from ear to ear waiting for his shouts of joy but instead in my sweet dear husbands true fashion he looks at me and says..."you peed on that!!"  haha  Well what can you expect at 6 in the morning from someone who is not a morning person.  Later on in the day when it had set in he called me very excited!

Once I found out I was pregnant I promptly got dressed and went to the store to look at baby clothes and I couldn't resist and bought 2 boy onsies and 2 girls onsies!  It was an excited moment for me seeing as how we had waited for quite a awhile for this sweet little miracle!!  I was very lucky in that I only threw up once during my whole pregnancy and it was on the very last night of my Seattle vacation.  But I think it had more to do with the fact that I had over done by walking around the whole city practically!  I did feel nauseous during my first trimester and the third trimester.  But overall it wasn't a bad pregnancy at all!

So my due date was November 22...Thanksgiving Day!!  I was really hoping that this baby would come early because if he came late it would be right around Joe's and my anniversary and we wanted to avoid this!  But I guess one doesn't have that much control over such things.  We were able to find out whether this baby was a boy or a girl when I was only 16 weeks.  I had a pretty strong feeling that I was going to have a boy but since Joe has 7 sisters and I have 2 and between the both of us we have NO biological brothers we thought that there was no way we were going to have a boy, it had to be a girl.  But I could shake this feeling that it was a boy and Joe really really REALLY wanted a boy first.  I'm pretty sure he prayed that he got a boy first.  His brother Brant once told him "real men know how to make boys first!"  This coming from a man who did have a boy first and proceeded to have 6 girls...haha.  I'll never forget that trip to the hospital.  I was lying on the bed when the nurse started the ultra sound as soon as I saw my baby I yelled out "IT'S A BOY!" before she even had a chance to say anything haha.  Joe was stunned and had a HUGE smile on his face.  I know he would have been just as happy with a girl but he did really want a boy!

Since I knew that this little boy would be joining our family close to our anniversary date and it was my year to plan something special for our anniversary I planned a little weekend trip to Bear Lake in September.  I was about 7 months pregnant and still felt pretty good and it was still warm out.

It was such a peaceful trip!  It was the close of the season and there was almost no one on the lake but it was still pretty warm out so we got to go swimming!  It was a great end to the pre-children chapter of our lives!  On to the next :o)

So Thanksgiving came and went with no baby!  The Monday after Thanksgiving I went to my last doctor's appointment.  Through my whole pregnancy I carried this little guy very high.  Due to this I suffered from sever back pain and rib separation pain.  This was also a problem when it came to time to deliver.  My doctor was very concerned that I would have to have a c-section.  She informed us of the very high possibility that this could happen.  I cried a little but was determined not to have a c-section!  By this point I had started to feel less and less movement so my doctor had me go to the hospital for some tests to make sure he was ok.  They told me that my fluid was dangerously low and that if my doctor wasn't inducing me on the upcoming Thursday then they would.  However my sweet doctor said I wouldn't have to go longer then a week to Thursday the 29th of November was my induction date!

The morning of the 29th I woke up at about 4:30 to shower because I had a feeling this was going to be a very long day and I wasn't sure when I'd get to shower again haha.  I put on some comfy clothes and made sure my bag was all packed and had bowl of cereal because again i didn't know when I'd get to eat again also haha.  We were running about a half an hour late because Joe is one of the hardest people to get out of bed in the morning! :o)  But I still wanted to take one last picture of me all huge before we left.

I was so done with being pregnant by this point!  The last month was the worst for me!  I was miserable!  But very excited.  I wasn't nervous through my whole pregnancy but as we were walking through the hospital on our way up to the labor and delivery floor I got some Texas sized butterflies in my stomach.  I knew that the next time I left this hospital we would have a sweet baby boy!

I was induced at 6:30am.  I had that strep B so they put me on antibiotics for the whole day.  The morning was pretty boring.  I felt the contractions but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle.  My doctor came and checked on my periodically throughout the day.  I was scheduled to have my water broken at 1:30.  Around noon the contractions started getting a whole lot worse so I decided to get my epidural   I was always going to get one, I just wanted to see how long I could go.  At 1:15, still no epidural yet, I looked at Joe and said "either I peed the bed or my water just broke!"  Sure enough my water broke.  It was such a weird feeling because it was totally unexpected!  So this gave my doctor a little more time since she didn't need to come right away.  The anesthesiologist came in then to give me the epidural   Thank goodness too because the pain shot through the roof after my water broke!!  Apperently the epidual pump was never turned on because about a hour after I was given the medicine I was in soooo much pain.  They apologized and fixed the problem.  I was happy to not feel anymore pain for the rest of the day!!

I have to say I was soooooooo bored for most of the day.  I took naps here and there and it was window washing day so I watched the guy wash my wall full of windows.  Thank goodness he couldn't see in!  That would have been embarassing!  I went in the hospital at only 1cm and it took until about 10pm that night to get fully diolated.  And then there was more waiting since I didn't start pushing with the nurse until about 11:15.  Then the Doctor came in about midnight or just shortly after.  It only took about 20 minutes or so of pushing with her there!  I was so ready to get this baby out!

At 12:52am on November 30, 2012 our sweet little Joseph David Craig Jr was born.  Weighing 7lbs 11oz and 21 and 1/2 inches long:

Joe and I were in shock!  All we could do was stare at this beautiful little baby that was now our son!  After a grand total of 17 hours of labor this is what I had to show for it!  What a wonderful prize!

Well there were a few complications.  I had spiked a little fever when he was born and there was meconium in the fluid that he had breathed in and I had the strep b and he had some breathing problems.  So they had the respitory team in the room when he was born.  They decided to take him to the NICU to be monitored for a couple of hours and they were going to give him antibiotic.  I got to hold him for a minute (I called this my prize for going through labor) and then they took him and Joe went with them.  After everything I just went through I was then left alone in the hospital room for the next hour haha  I was told I should try and take a nap...like that was going to to happen.  So I watched tv....this was the worst!  I wanted to hold my sweet little baby but that was not going to happen for several hours later!  They took me to go see him on the way down to the mother baby floor.  It was so hard to see my little hooked up to all there tubes.

But 4 hours later I finally got to hold my little angel!!!

And our first family photo:

Joe's dad had been waiting anxiously the phone wanting to come meet his grandson.  He got to come meet him at about 6am that morning and throughout the next 2 days we had lots of visitors in the hospital.  We bough this cute little onsie for him when we first found out we were pregnant.  And that was the one Joe wanted to bring him home in.  He was so little he didn't quite fit in it even though it was a newborn size.

It has been so fun to show him off :o)  I have loved watching our sweet angle grow.  I am so looking forward to the years to come with our little Jr!!

2012...

Hello blogging world...2012 was quite the year for the Craig's!  This last year:
-I made my first trip out to Ohio to spend some a week with my brother and sister in law (taking care of six kids is exhaustion !!  I don't know how they do it! haha But it was so fun to spend some good quality time with them and getting to know them better but it was also the very first time that Joe and I spent the night apart!

-Joe and I made the trek up north to visit with my family!!  It had been a year and half since I had seen them to it was such a wonderful visit.  Joe's parents went with us and got to meet my family for the first time!

- I graduated from college!!!  Amazingly enough I made it!  It was a tough road but totally fulfilling!

- I turned 31...and Joe got me a pinata!!  It was in the shape of a princess castle!  It was awesome!

-We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary!

-We also bought our first home!!   (pictures coming soon....)

quick update....

Well, I am almost done with my student teaching experience. It has been challenging and exciting. When I first started I hated teaching and never wanted to do it in real life...I have changed my mind and now I love it!! I am excited for this to be over though because it is stressful and very difficult to teach and go to school at the same time!! Joe has been a HUGE help though. He is great at grading papers and helping me stay organized. I am grateful to have him!! I have not yet decided what I'm going to once I have graduated but I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough.

Joe's sister is getting married on the 18th and we are busy getting ready for a wedding. It's really exciting because everyone is coming into town again this year. Last year Joe and I were getting married so we didn't get a chance to really have good conversations with all of Joe's giant family. This year we don't have all the responsibilities of being the bride and groom...so we get to just enjoy the stress-free visit of all the family in town. We are so excited!! We are also way excited for Emily and Ian who are getting married in the Manti Temple!!

Other than that there's not much new except that Joe and I are getting ready to celebrate out 1st wedding anniversary together!! YEAY!! Time sure flys by!!

I will try and get some pictures up from our first fun summer in the sun together!!

The home stretch...

Ok so for ME this is my last semester as a student...then i GRADUATE!!!! It's so exciting to see the end in sight. I am so ready to do my student-teaching and being done with school for a while!! I have worked really hard for this degree and I just can't wait until I have it in my hands. I am going to officially be done in December but I don't get to walk until April. I know it's kinda cheesy and lots of people don't walk...but I have worked dang hard for it so I want to wear the ugly cap & gown! I am so excited to be a college graduate! It's nice knowing that my loving husband and new family are just as excited to sit in the audience and watch me graduate!

Joe is in the home stretch of this semester... Another semester almost down! He has been working so hard with working all day and then school in the evening 4 days a week. It will be nice to have a summer with no school and then we can just focus on us and our future.

Oh what a summer this will be...we are going to Southern California in a month for 10 days. We are going to Universal Studios, Disneyland, Sea World, San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Temple. It will be sooooo much fun! We are really looking forward to this trip because we were both so very sick on our honeymoon so this will be like a second honeymoon.

We are also going on a river rafting trip with Joe's mom's family up in Wyoming in July.

We are going to Bear Lake in the beginning of August.

What a fun summer this will be. Our first summer as a married couple. W are looking forward to this new adventure.

Stay tuned for pictures and updates...

Post-wedding

Well things have started to settle down and we are getting back to real life. Joe and I are both in school. Joe is still working all day and then school at night...oh the life of a student. I on the other hand am currently in the middle of my last semester as a student. I am supper excited to see if I am going to get an internship or if I'm be student teaching starting in the fall.

Here's the difference, if I student teach then I will be be done in 3 months and I would be working with another teacher. However, if I intern then I will have control of my own classroom. My workload will be much heavy because I wouldn't have another teacher to help me like in student teaching. And I would get paid half salary.

I just had my first interview last Friday, I am leaving it up to the Lord which would be best for me and my family. I have applied for both so I guess we'll see what happen.

OH this Valentine's day was my first time having a valentine...it was so fun!! I made a romantic dinner for 2...I've waited for so long to be able to do that!! That really is the only thing that is new with us. We are loving being married and enjoying continuing to get to know each other!!

We are looking forward to a fun summer together!! :o)

How He Proposed

Joe wanted to surprise me so he had to be sneaky about it. He told me that he wasn't going to even be able to pick up the ring for another week or so so I had no idea what was coming. It was a Thursday and he came home from work and asked if I wanted to go out to eat and then go take some pictures up the canyon. I said ok, sure. He took me to one of my favorite places, Noodles & Company. Then I wasn't feeling like taking pictures because to be honest I didn't feel very pretty. I was wearing jeans and a sweater. Joe on the other hand comes home from work and takes a shower so he always looks good when we go out because he is all freshened up. So he asked if I would like to just go for a "little" (I put that in quotations because it was NOT a little hike haha) up to Upper Falls (It's the falls above Bridal Vail Falls, for those of you who know where that is). So we get there and grabs his camera (which for those of you who know Joe know that that is the LAST thing he would normally grab) but I didn't think much of it since we had talked about taking pictures. So we started hiking and Joe was very very quiet, so I asked him what was wrong because he was so quiet, and he said "nothing, just thinking". I knew something was up but I quite sure what so I let it go. We keep climbing and climbing and this was not an easy climb. I remember asking him where he was taking me? He chuckled and said "you'll see" or something along those lines. We FINALLY get to the top and the waterfall was so beautiful and the view from up there was incredible. So Joe then sets up the camera on the rock to take a few pictures. When he gets it just right he says "um...I have to go to the bathroom" so I just stand there looking the other way of course thinking "is he serious, up here" but I guess when you gotta go you gotta go (he told me later that he really didn't have to go but that on the way up he had heard the ring bouncing around in the box and he wanted to fix it so everything was perfect :o)). So he comes back and he sets the camera's timer and I get ready for the picture, but this time is different. He takes my hand and gets down on one knee and nervously asks if I will marry him? I don't think I will ever forget the look in his eyes when he was asking me. I knew in that moment truly how much this man loved me. I know it sounds cheesy but I saw forever in his eyes in that moment! It took me a while to speak, all I could do was stare into his wonderful eyes and squeak. Eventually I said yes! I didn't cry though, I was so shocked that I couldn't cry. We kissed and then he put the ring on my finger and I was dancing around on this little tiny edge (maybe not the best idea, but I was excited). Joe grabbed me said "please don't fall, I just got you and I don't want to lose you." So I quite haha.

So yea that's how he "popped the question". You know I always dreamed about how the man I married would actually purpose...this was better then any dream!! :o)

I'M ENGAGED!!!

Who would have thought that my very next post would be the "I'm Engaged" post...haha...well I can honestly say that it happened and now the next post will be the "How he proposed" post :o)

OK....

Alright..I know that it has been...oh about FOREVER since my last post...well here is a quick recap of what is going on in my life...

I am living in Orem currently and have 2 semesters left of school! I can't believe that I am that close to being done...oh my...I try not to think about it that much because when I do I get a little freaked out haha...

The past nine months I have been working at the UVU Health Services and i was a grand adventure...I met a lot of cute guys that way hahaha...but now my journey with the Health Services is over and I am enjoying not working and just finshing up school...

I have taken up a few new hobbies. I started figure skating...I'm not sure how good I really am but I sure do have a great time trying!! I also took up rock climbing...I have been going every week and I'm actually kinda good at it and I love doing it. It gives me a wonderful feeling making it to the top of a rock!! I also tried archery...wow that is tough for girls but it's a lot of fun!! I'm trying to do my best at trying new things and making myself a more well-rounded person.

On the boy front...ahhh...I'm stilling waiting for the right one to come along :o)....I look forward to the day when I get to post the imfamous "I'm Engaged" blog...haha...until then just me and my life will have to do :o)...however for all of you that are actually reading this never fear I have not given up hope that I will find him nor have I stopped trying to find him so please do me a favor and keep me and the man that I will actually choose in your prayers cuz apparently we need all the help we can get...hahaha...

Well that really is about all that is going on in my life at this moment....I have a few fun things coming up this summer and I will be sure update all you blog followers out there on them!!
Luv you all

UVUphoria 2009

OK...so something fun that I did get to do was UVUphoria. I went last year too and it was fun. This was a concert celebration to celebrate Utah Valley State College becoming Utah Valley University...here are some fun pics...my best friend came with me and some other girlfriends...YEAY FOR GIRL'S NIGHT OUT!! :o)

Still alive and kickin'...

Hey friends...so I know it's been about oh...forever since my last post. Well a lot has happened since Thanksgiving...lets see...I went home for Christmas and boy was that an adventure...Western Washington was hit with a huge blizzard...it was the most snow I've seen up there since I was a little girl. It was fun!!

I moved to a new apartment after the new year. I have some great new roommates...Here is a pic with me and Katie on the left and Lynsi on the right. I love these girls...It's been living at the Timp Gateway Condos.

I will be moving AGAIN on Aug 24 up to Orem...At the end of Feb I got laid off from my job and so I decieded to go back to school full-time...I will be graduating April 2011...with a degree in Secondary History Education (high school) and a minor in Music and another minor in Political Science...I decided to delay my graduation a semester and that way I would be able to include the PoliSci minor...This way I will have a better chance of getting a job when I'm done. So the reason for the move is to be closer to school (within alking distance). I'm really excited and I think that this lay-off was the best thing to have happen. I never would have had enough guts to quit myself but when this happened I didn't have a choice. My wonderful family and close friends have been so incrediable supportive...they have been such a blessing!!

It's interesting have all this free-time. I have decided to not work for the summer and just focus on school. I was fortinate enough to have saved some money to live on. I have found that it's hard to not go out and find a job. It's instinct really...haha...so I decided to build a flower box...I was bored...haha...I turned out great though!!...here are a couple shots of the pretty flowers...

Other then that there isn't much new right now...other then it's wedding season...WAHOO...I have been busy doing flowers for some weddings and even more receptions to go to...it's going to be a great summer I think...

Thanksgiving Dinner for 1

Ok, so I know that it's not "socially" acceptable to be ok with being alone...but I am. I mean don't get me wrong I would like to get married and have a family of my own like most of my friends...but...I have recently discovered that I am happy even though I am alone. The holiday season is always a hard one to do alone. But tonight I will be having Thanksgiving dinner alone. I miss my family terribly but I am actually kinda looking forward to having dinner on my own. It's all about making lemonade out of lemons. I have TONS of homework to do so I will be working on that and fixing a turkey dinner for 1.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Lord has a plan for me. I know who I am and for the first time in my life I know exactly where I'm going. Every once in a while I do get a little sad about being alone but then I have a little talk with my mom and she reassures me that I never would have been able to do all I have been able to do if I had a family. And she just tell me to be patient and things will happen in their own time...aka the Lord's time :o)...

I have a WONDERFUL life and I love living it!!! So to all my friends that I know worry about me...I'm a very happy person!! And thank you so much for caring about me. It was my Stake President that told me: "Be patient...Eternal things take time!" So here I sit as patient as possible! I know that things will work out just the way they are suppose to as long as I keep doing everything I am supposed to be doing.

2 month update...

Well I've been at my new apartment for about 2 months now and boy has it been an adventure. I had a hard time at first but I'm getting more and more comfortable. I have been making TONS of new friends. It was all a little overwhelming but it's been good for me. I have learned a lot about my own strength.

School has been a challenge but I guess it wouldn't be worth it if it wasn't. I am working really hard. It has seemed to have taken over my life these days. I work full-time while taking 5 classes. I am doing really well in all my classes except Biology. I just can't seem to get it. I am just trying to pass these days...haha...I figured I will focus on the subject I will be teaching, History, and leave the science to the science teachers! I am getting close and I can see the end in sight. :o)

Here are a couple of pictures of some new friends:

Two of my new friends: Lyndsi and Meghan

I know it's hard to see...but this is me and Lyndsi sneaking into a cop car...heehee...
I know that I haven't been the best at keeping up with this blog but my life has just been so consumed with school these days...so that's all for now... :o)

Labor Day Vaca

So for Labor Day weekend I went home. It was so fun to be with my family for a weekend. I have gotten into the habbit of going hoome for that holiday. I got so much done while I was there. I cleaned out my storage unit. In the process I got to go through all of my old stuff. It was so much fun to go down memory lane. I also through practically everything away...haha...I kept about 2 boxes and that was about it!

I had not been having a good time so I needed to get away for awhile before school the madness of school started. Here are some pictures of my family:

HEY
I have finally moved!!! My new place is a MESS but as soon as I get all moved in it will look super nice!! I have lost the cord that hooks my camera up to my computer so I can't show you any pictures at the current time. But never fear I will post some soon!! I am so blessed to be able to live in such a wonderful place!

On Wednesday the new semester starts and I can't wait to get going! It will be a busy time for me but I am ready to embrace it! I will be taking 5 classes this semester. And once the semester is over I will only have 4 more semesters to go...haha...

Congrats to my mom who is almost done. She will graduate in April with a medical computer something or other. She's smart and I'm so proud of her for doing it. She's wanted to go back for a long time and now after all her hard work she's almost done!

This Friday I will be making the trip up to the Great Northwest to visit the fam. And I can't wait!!! I miss them terribly! I haven't seen them since January so it will be fun to catch up. My sister is going to be turning 17 in a couple of months and she is going to be starting her Junior year in high school next week. I can't believe and fast she is growing up!! She is taller than me now :o(...but it's not like I'm huge or anything so we all new that that would happen! haha

Anyways...that's all for now...I will post lot's of fun pics next week after I get back from Washington! :o)

Good Luck to all those starting school soon...have fun! heehee...

New Theme Song...for this point in my life!!...

Chris Daughtry
Over You

Now that it’s all said and done
I can’t believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down
Like an old abandoned house
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath
I felt as if I was in way to deep
Guess I let you get the best of meeee

(Chorus)
Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time agooo!
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I’m slowly getting closure
I guess it’s really over
I’m finally gettin’ better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
‘Cause the day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you!!!
(End Chorus)

You took a hammer to these walls
Dragged the memories down the hall
Packed your bags and walked away
There was nothing I could say,
And when you slammed the front door shut
A lot of other’s opened up
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for meee

(Chorus)
Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time agooo!
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I’m slowly getting closure
I guess it’s really over
I’m finally getting’ better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
‘Cause the day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you!!!
(End Chorus)

I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time agooo
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you

And I never saw it coming
I should have started running
I’m finally getting better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
And I got over you!!!
And I got over you!!!
And I got over you!!!

The day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you…

other random thoughts from that past month...

In all this past month has been exciting and a learning experience for me!...I am getting ready to move soon. I know that it's the right time but I am sad that things are changing! I don't handle change well but I'm working on being better at that. Things have really fallen into place as far as school goes. I'm SUPER excited for the upcoming semester but a little nervous! I am going to be taking 15 credits and working 38.5 hours a week...CRAZY...I know that I won't have much of a life. But I've discovered that you really make time in your life for the things and the people that are truly important to you!

I am about to embark on a new adventure. I am excited to see what life has in store for me. I truly believe that the Lord puts you in a place where you will learn the most. And now I feel it's time for me to move on and learn something different from new people. I have LOVED living at Alta and have learned soooo much about myself from the people I have met there. I have made some truly lasting friendships there. I guess I just want people to know that I feel so blessed for the experiences that I have had in my life the past 5 years. Change is always hard. But I'm learning that it is necessary if I want to grow. I feel really good about my move to the Timpanogas Gateways Condos.

I never realized how much crap one acquires after living so long in one place! haha I have thrown out so much stuff...I'm so proud of myself!! haha It's fun to look through all of my old stuff though. It brings back so many old memories. I've decided that sometimes packing can be fun. But I can't wait to unpack in my new place!! YEAY....well thanks for listening :o)

BYU Intramural Champs!

On August 7, the intramural softball team that I play on played in the Championship game. And we WON!!! We were undefeated in the tournament. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well that day at all!! But I tried to play my best. We had a blast playing together! Everyone on our team really got along well and played well together! And we were even down 3 people at the last game and we still won...YEAY for us!

Oh and...we got these really cool T-shirts that say that we are Champions...just in case other people didn't already know...haha...
